Flying on a group flight reservation.

Some of our pilgrimages include airfare on a group flight reservation. There are pros and cons to group flight reservations. The main "pro" of a group flight reservation is that St. Charles Pilgrimages LLC arranges your airfare on your behalf. The downside of a group flight reservation is the lack of flexibility a pilgrim has regarding their flight experience. 

All group flight reservations have the following limitations:

• All seats on the group reservation are in main-economy class and are not upgradable.
• All group flight tickets must depart and arrive at the same airport on the same day. This means that pilgrims cannot altar their flight itinerary to arrive earlier or stay later.
• Airlines assign seats at random for group flight reservations. This means that pilgrims cannot request specific seat assignments.
• For group flight reservations, there is no advanced mobile check-in 24 hours prior to the flight. Pilgrims with group flight tickets simply check-in at the airline desk when you check your luggage the day of your flight.

If flexibility is important to you in regard to your flight experience, we would encourage you to register as a land-only pilgrim for your pilgrimage. Please see the section titled Flying as a land-only pilgrim.

Flying as a land-only pilgrim.

Some of our pilgrimages do not offer a group flight reservation. Even if your pilgrimage does include a group flight reservation, pilgrims will always have the option to travel as a land-only pilgrim. Traveling as land-only simply means that you are responsible for arranging and purchasing your own airfare. 

You would choose land-only if: 

1. Your pilgrimage does not include a group flight reservation.
2.  You prefer flexibility in your flight experience (i.e., upgraded class, specific seat assignment, prefer to arrive early or extend your stay, prefer to pay for your airfare with airline miles, etc).

It is important that land-only pilgrims wait to purchase their airfare until AFTER  St. Charles Pilgrimages LLC has posted the designated arrival and departure times on your pilgrimage's website (under the "Flight Information" section) . All of our pilgrimages include airport transfers to and from the destination airport (pilgrims are required to arrange their own airport transfers to and from their home airport).
